Does anyone else love a good versatile location for family photos? If you are looking for a nice park with open fields, trees, trails and water for your Seattle family photo session, Wallace Swamp Creek Park is a great option for north Seattle residents!
Wallace Swamp Creek Park is a small park that offers plenty of variety for family photos.
Although small, this park packs a punch with its variety of places to take beautiful family photos. It’s a great mix of open fields, gravel and paved paths, woodsy trails and a creek, a small pond and waterfall, wooden bridge, with park benches.
There are a few open fields that are just so beautiful when taking photo during the golden hour (one hour before sunset). As a part of my photo session flow, I will start with the field, and then move us along some of the trails through the forest. We’ll then get some great images along the trail. Maybe we’ll stop to play on the wooden bridge as we continue on our way. Next, we will work our way over to the creek and end our session near the pond. If it’s warm enough, we may even get our toes wet and play a little in the water! When our session is over, you’ll come away with a variety of images from your family photo session.
This park is also conveniently located for north Seattle residents.
Nestled in Kenmore, Wallace Swamp Creek Park is a 24 acre park conveniently located for families living on the north end of Seattle including as Lynnwood, Edmonds, Bothell, Mountlake Terrace, Brier, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, and (of course) Kenmore! You don’t need to worry about driving all the way down to busy parks like Discovery Park or Magnuson Park (although these are lovely options too!)
Wallace Swamp Creek Park is great for family photos because it’s just so easy.
The parking is easy–just one lot. It’s not far to walk from place to place in this small park. So this park is great for little toddlers to get around.
Conveniently, large trees filter the sun so family photos can be taken at different times of the day. I do prefer to shoot photo sessions during the golden hour. However, sometimes during the summer here in the Pacific Northwest, that can be challenging for littles making bedtime so late! Although I do have tips and tricks for evening sessions, if you kiddos can just not stay up that late, this park is a great option for an earlier family photo session.
By the way, there is no playground here to temp the littles away from all the photo taking fun. Just nature at it’s best!
There are a few important things to consider about family photos at Wallace Swamp Creek Park.
There is no public bathroom at this park, so you might want to make a quick pitstop at Starbucks before you arrive. Another thing to note is that this park is best suited for Spring, Summer and Fall family photo sessions. Since the trees here are deciduous trees rather than pine/coniferous trees, it can look a little gray and dull in the wintertime. But it sure it gorgeous the rest of the year!
Lastly, there is a lovely little creek running through the park. This is beautiful for photos, but it also can be easily avoided if water is too much for your children. We can always head to the creek last, and maybe even get a little wet! And if you are really up for some adventure, we’ll have to check out the log crossing the creek. Children LOVE to play on the log. 😉
You may like this park so much that you’ll want to come back just to let your kids play! And you might even see me there with my kids in the summertime. 😉
